Private Music Instruction

By focusing on providing outstanding ensemble experiences, MYAC works in partnership with private teachers to help students reach their highest potential.

We do not offer private lessons, but we do offer you help in finding a teacher who is a good match.  We do this in two ways:

1. Private Lesson Interviews

MYAC is committed to matching music students in the Chicagoland area to professional, experienced, and reputable private teachers. If you are looking for a new teacher and are not sure where to start searching, MYAC can help. Any student and their parent/s can come to the MYAC Center and participate in a comprehensive interview for just $50 that will be reviewed by MYAC's music directors. During the interview, students play repertoire they’ve been working on and discuss ideal location for lessons, personalities, experience, dedication to practicing, family budget and availability. Within 2 weeks of the interview, MYAC will personally match each student with a private teacher.

  • Begin by completing an Interview Form.

  • Then you may pay your $50 non-refundable interview fee in one of two ways: 1. credit card: PayPal will process your payment instantly or 2. personal check: Please bring a check with you on the day of the interview.

2. Searchable Online Directory of Music Teachers and Accompanists

MYAC also maintains an online directory of private music teachers, Private Music Teaching.org, to facilitate the process of finding the right teacher for each student. Music teachers use this website to post their background information, training, teaching philosophy, and lesson information. You can search for a teacher near you by simply entering a zip code and instrument.

If you are a music teacher, we encourage you to create your free teacher profile on privatemusicteaching.org, so more prospective students can find you!
