Mr. Mark’s Music and Movement Class is MYAC’s early childhood program, providing a nurturing musical environment for children and adults.

Playful and engaging classes, 45 minutes of fun for everyone. You will connect with your child as together you enjoy movement, music, songs, games, books, and instruments! Your child will share their creativity and imagination while practicing listening, social awareness, teamwork, sharing, and turn taking.

Mr. Mark’s Music and Movement Class Provides:

  • Thoughtfully designed and energetic classes.

  • Songs from sweet lullabies to boisterous jams.

  • Opportunity for young children to participate in their own time, with classmates of mixed ages and abilities

  • Opportunities for young children to make music along with the grownups they love.

  • Instructor with 20+ years of experience running early childhood classes!

  • A rich music environment that supports each child's overall development.

  • Instructor who plays the guitar and guides everyone through instrumental, physical or rhythmic activities.

  • For everyone to get their hands on age appropriate instruments.

  • Diverse songs for all ages!

  • Engaging songs in a wide variety of tonalities, meters and cultural styles.

Mr. Mark’s Music and Movement class is offered for babies to preschool (ages 0 - 5) aged children and their parent/guardian. This set up echoes the Montessori classroom and its “planes of development”. Children get to observe, model and lead at various segments of their “career” in the class. Parents can be less stressed about expectations of their child to do the “right” behaviors—instead they can observe other children at different developmental stages and view them as “coming attractions” for their own child. There’s a wonderful fluidity (for parents and the teacher) of watching an infant responding their way, and then watching a toddler responding their way, and then watching a 4-year old showing off their way. Mr. Mark likes to call his classes “a great big musical family full of potential.” It is a big plus for parents to find a class where they can bring siblings! (Two siblings is common, and three siblings is not uncommon.)

You can view an example of Mr. Mark’s songs in this Video.
