Midwest Young Artists' nationally recognized Summer Music Festival has an outstanding faculty, nurturing staff and is held in a beautiful and comfortable setting. While our summer program has a strong focus on chamber music, students may also participate in our Evening Orchestra. In addition we offer courses in music theory, conducting, as well as a sonata class. - A Nurturing and Supportive Environment
Our faculty members residential campers, we have caring and supportive staff on hand 24 hours a day.
Location
Students stay in dormitories with one roommate, with easy accessibility to rehearsals, performances and the cafeteria. In addition, Carthage College has excellent athletic facilities along with a state of the art swimming pool. Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, there are scenic bicycle and jogging paths that extend into the heart of downtown Kenosha. This serene setting provides the perfect environment for inspiring young musicians.

Winds and Brass Workshop Daily Schedule
The Chamber Music Workshop for Winds and Brass is designed to introduce students to the techniques needed for a professional playing career. The focus will be wind playing techniques such as breathing, articulation, nerve control, and tone production through the comprehensive study of major repertoire. Students will also participate in weekly performances and inspirational master classes with world class artists. Tuition includes a weekly private lesson and the opportunity to study music theory.
Each weekday begins with a group warm-up for brass students followed by chamber music rehearsals and coachings for both woodwind and brass students. After lunch all students attend wind techniques class or master classes. Individual group rehearsals, theory classes, lessons, and other opportunities are offered in the late afternoon. Besides the great experience of intensive musical study, the Chamber Music Workshop for Winds and Brass aids students in developing their musicianship and interpretive and communicative skills.
2008 Master Class Artists (artists subject to change) include: Barbara Butler, Dale Clevenger, and John Bruce Yeh.

Student Eligibility
Chamber Music Workshop for Winds and Brass will accept serious wind and brass players to fill two (2) woodwind quintets and two (2) brass quintets. Chamber Music Workshop for Winds and Brass is for students who have completed 6th grade by summer 2008.
Tuition and Application
Students wishing to attend the Chamber Music Workshop for Winds & Brass must complete the Secure Online Application and submit the $75 application fee. This application fee will be applied toward summer workshop tuition for students who enroll. As described in the online application, a recording, clearly labeled with your name and “ 2008 Winds & Brass Workshop,” must be mailed under separate cover. Financial assistance is available.
Application Deadline
All materials should be mailed in as soon as possible. Students will be notified of their acceptance when all materials have been submitted and we have determined that there is an ensemble placement. There are still openings.

The financial aid form must be submitted at the same time as the camp application.
Upon receiving notification of your acceptance, you must remit a $250 deposit. Deposits are non refundable except in cases of medical necessity. This deposit will be applied toward your invoice, which must be paid in full by June 1, 2008 .
