Saxophone Workshop

For Residential and Nonresidential Students. Designed with the inspiring young classical saxophonist in mind.

The Saxophone Workshop is designed with the aspiring young classical saxophonist in mind and offers chamber music study and performance, inspirational master classes and electives, including private lessons. Emphasis is placed on performance techniques and practice. The goal is to help each student grow musically and individually.

About the Festival

An Emphasis on Chamber Music
MYA knows chamber music. MYA has won Chamber Music America's Heidi Castleman Award for Excellence in Chamber Music Teaching and has more medal winners in the Junior Division of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition than any other pre-college program in the country!

A Nurturing and Supportive Environment
Our faculty are great musicians who love to teach. MYA's philosophy is based on creating an environment where every student feels comfortable and encouraged to learn. We strongly believe if you aren't having fun, you won't be able to make great music. For residential campers, we have a caring and supportive staff on hand 24 hours a day.

Location

Our residential programs are held on the lovely campus of Carthage College located in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Students stay in dormitories with one roommate, with easy accessibility to rehearsals, performances and the cafeteria. In addition, Carthage College has excellent athletic facilities along with a state of the art swimming pool. Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, there are scenic bicycle and jogging paths that extend into the heart of downtown Kenosha. This serene setting provides the perfect environment for inspiring young musicians.
