John Bruce Yeh joined the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1977 at the invitation of Sir Georg Solti. He is the Director of Chicago Pro Musica, as well as the founding member of the Chicago Symphony Winds. Together with Chicago composer/computer sound artist Howard Sandroff, Mr. Yeh performs as a member of the duo “Double Dialogue.” A prizewinner at both the 1982 Munich International Music Competition and the 1985 Naumberg Clarinet Competition in New York, he continues to appear as a soloist with many orchestras and on chamber music series and festivals worldwide. Mr. Yeh has toured with “Music from Marlboro” and has performed with the Guarneri String Quartet, the Ying Quartet, and The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. His recordings of concertos by Nielsen, Prokofiev, Stravinsky, Gould, Bernstein, Shaw, and others have won universal acclaim. A graduate of the Juilliard School and a 1976 Fromm Fellow at Tanglewood, Mr. Yeh is currently a faculty member at DePaul University. A Grammy Award recipient, Mr. Yeh resides in Chicago.
