Gordon S. Krauspe returns this year as the Director of MYA’s Chorale. He is held in high regard as Director of Choir at Wheaton Warrenville South High School in Wheaton, Illinois where he directs the Chamber Singers, Concert Chorale, Varsity Women’s Chorale, and the Men’s Chorale, as well as teaching Rock and Roll History. He holds a Bachelor of Music Ed. and Master of Music degree from Northern Illinois University. In his tenure at Wheaton Warrenville South the choral program has grown from 2 choirs of 100 singers to 7 ensembles involving nearly 300 students, and a staff of two choral directors and 6 private voice instructors. Mr. Krauspe also directs a Fathers and Sons Chorus each spring. His groups have toured the United States and Europe, and have performed at a variety of festivals, conventions and contests. He frequently works as a festival clinician, conductor and adjudicator, is listed repeatedly as "Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers" and "Who’s Who In America," and the University of Chicago has also recognized him as an "Outstanding High School Educator". In 2003, Mr. Krauspe directed the Illinois Honor Choir in the "Music Education Day at the Capitol" program. Gordon Krauspe has served as president for the Central Division of the American Choral Directors Association and was ACDA President in Illinois. He has also served as a district chairperson for the Illinois Music Educators Association. Mr. Krauspe has sung professionally as a member of the Chicago Symphony Chorus, St. James Cathedral – Chicago, the Fine Arts Chorale and in various choral activities in the Chicago and suburban region. He resides in Wheaton with his wife, Claudia, and their two children, Emily and Ethan.
