Joyce Haqq earned her Bachelor of Science in Choral Music Education from the University of Illinois. Since graduation, Joyce has taught at the middle school, high school, and junior college level. She was director of choirs at the College of Lake County for three years before she began teaching at Adlai Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire where she was Associate Choir Director for eight years. While she was a member of the music department at Stevenson, the department was named one of the top twelve music programs in the country by MENC. The Fine Arts Department was named as a Kennedy Center National School of Distinction in Arts while she was a part of the staff. She has been the director of Ladyjazz, a women’s a cappella ensemble at Stevenson, for over fifteen years. She is a member of MENC, ACDA and she was the Tri-M Music Honor Society sponsor at Stevenson. Joyce has been vocal director for many community theater and junior college productions including Anything Goes, Oklahoma! Snoopy, Little Shop of Horrors. Joyce lives in Grayslake with her husband, David, and her sons Ethan and Ben.
