Sarah Barnes is an active performer and percussion teacher in the Chicago area. In addition to teaching percussion privately, she is the Director and founder of the nationally recognized MYA Percussion Program (2006 and 2004 Gold Medalists at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition; 2006 Rembrandt Chamber Music Honorary Mention). Sarah is a magna cum laude graduate from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music/University of Cincinnati where she earned a Bachelor in Music Performance.
She has performed with Music of the Baroque, Northshore Choral Society, ARC Chamber Ensemble, Evansville Philharmonic, Kentucky Symphony and Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Her teachers have included members from the Percussion Group, Cincinnati, Keith Aleo, John Alfieri, Michael Burritt, Stuart Chafetz, and Eugine Espino. She currently performs regularly with the Northbrook Symphony Orchestra.
