Tuition
Tuition for 2009-2010
Tuition is charged to cover a portion of the actual cost of the program to the organization. (Tuition covers 57% of operating expenses this season.) Financial aid is offered to those families demonstrating need so that no student accepted into MYA Programs is precluded from participation due to financial reasons.
- Orchestra, including Reading, Cadet, Philharmonia, Concert and Symphony: $340 per semester (plus an additional $285 for chamber music tuition per semester for Concert and Symphony Orchestra members or select Prep Orchestra members placed in a chamber music ensemble. Note that the tuition rate for Intensive Chamber Music ensembles is $400 per semester.
- Jazz Big Band, including Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Orchestra and MYA Big Band: $340 per semester (plus an additional $285 per semester for those members who also participate in the Jazz Combo program)
- Choral Program: Chorale and Voices Rising; $340 per semester; or $680 for whole year (plus an additional $285 for chamber music tuition per semester for Chorale members); Mighty Maestro Singers (grades 3-4) and Little Maestro Singers (grades 1-2): $265 per semester, or $530 for whole year.
- Wind Symphony Program: $300 per semester or $240 if student is participating in another large MYA ensemble.
- Theory tuition is free for all MYA members or $150 per semester for students taking Theory Class only.
- Chamber Music Program or Jazz Combo Only (i.e., if the student does not participate in an MYA Orchestra, Jazz Big Band or Choral Program) : $420 per semester. This includes weekly coaching sessions and participation in Chamber Music Musicales, Sunday Soirees, and additional jazz performances. Tuition for students in Intensive Chamber Music Ensembles Only (who do not participate in the Orchestra Program) is $520 per semester.
Large ensemble (Orchestra, Jazz Big Band, Wind Symphony and Choral) tuition is never prorated.
There is a non-refundable $100.00 "Tuition Deposit" to guarantee students’ position in
their respective ensembles, only. That deposit is applied to 2nd semester
tuition.
Families with more than one student participating in MYA’s large ensembles automatically receive tuition discounts. (20% for second child; 40% for third child; 60% for fourth child).
The first semester begins in September and ends in January. The second semester begins in January and ends in May. Tuition is billed by semester. Tuition invoices are sent out one month prior to the beginning of each semester and must be remitted within 30 days of the invoice date. Special payment arrangements may be made by contacting the MYA office during this 30-day period. Tuition may be paid on-line via MasterCard, Visa, AMEX, Discover or an electronic check.
The Summer Semester is optional and currently runs in June and July.
