Peter Ellefson joined the trombone faculty of Indiana University in 2002. In addition to IU, he also teaches at Northwestern University and Roosevelt University. Prof. Ellefson frequently performs with the Chicago Symphony and the New York Philharmonic. He is also an active soloist and chamber musician, having recently given concerts with the New York Philharmonic Brass Quintet, Chicago Brass Quintet, Chicago Chamber Musicians, Proteus 7, Fulcrum Point New Music Project, Music of the Baroque and Tower Brass of Chicago. Prof. Ellefson was a member of the Seattle Symphony for 10 years, performing and recording on alto and tenor trombone, bass trumpet and tenor tuba. He also served as principal trombonist for Seattle Opera’s frequent productions of Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen. Prof. Ellefson is the associate teacher at the Alessi Seminar and has taught at the University of Costa Rica and the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, CA.  Peter Ellefson is an artist/clinician for Conn-Selmer, Inc., playing Bach trombones.
