What are you doing now? Do you still play your instrument?
I just finished my Master's degree in Violin Performance at Juilliard, studying with Sylvia Rosenberg. I have some concerts coming up and will be freelancing and auditioning for jobs!

What do you remember most about the competition?
The amazing, competitive yet friendly atmosphere. So much was happening everywhere in the building. Also, it was fun to watch people before and after performance.

Do you have any tips for working with an accompanist?
I had a terrific accompanist. It's important to have communication with your accompanist and make sure you agree about ideas for the piece. The performance is a joint effort and it's easy for others to recognize if you have rehearsed.

What is your advice for participants in the 15th Annual Walgreens Concerto Competition?
Pick a piece that you're comfortable with and can relate to, and just go for it! Treat the competition as a learning experience to improve and gain confidence playing in front of an audience. It really pays off to have the stage confidence early on in your music performance life!
